Captured entirely on the iPhone,‘Once Upon A Dress’, directed by Dasha Zhukova, founder & editor-in-chief of Garage Magazine, is the latest and one alternative installment to SHOWstudio’s ‘Fashion Festish’ series of fashion films, performances, multi-media pieces and accompanying essays by women in fashion (including Daphne Guinness, Ruth Hogben, Aimee Mullins to name a few).

The film comments on the contentious and provocative fusion of fashion with fetish.

Journeying back to the 20s in silent vignette style, fashion royalties: style icon and it-girl Chloë Sevigny as well as fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar USA & V Magazine, Derek Blasberg as her tuxedo-clad dream lover, demonstrate the power of dressing and fashion in a story that circulates on an awkward girl and how by adorning herself with the right dress, her entire lifestyle can be immediately transformed.

For this instance, the moment when Chloë puts on the beautiful Prada knife-edge pleated dress (from Prada’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection), it literally took her on a glamorous, romantic and very dancey jaunt with the man whom she likes, even if it only in her daydream.

.

Simply a message on dressing well in a very light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek manner, I must say! And did I mention how much I love those fun-loving jazzy dance moves in the film too?

“For my film I chose to go with a lighter, more humorous tone. This project presented a great opportunity to explore basic technologies like the filters I play with on my iPhone. I think obsession with fashion looms prominently in the everyday – and our fetishes in relation to it are just as habitual as they are sexual.” – Dasha Zhukova

So yes, it has been proved, what you wear actually makes alot of difference in your life. Call it witty or not, but this goes really well with my mantra, that is: ‘You can never say no to a perfect dress, wear it and let it’s magic work it’s way into your life and image.’
