Maria Grachvogel

Fresh from the runways of London Fashion Week 2013, Maria Grachvogel, who is dubbed as one of Britain’s top designers,  was here in Singapore to present her Spring/Summer 2013-14 collection at Paragon Shopping Centre last Thursday.

Hosted and produced by fashion producer Daniel Boey and team, the night kicked off with dresses, jumpsuits and sleek pants that stay true to Maria’s signature style, which is “Ageless, timeless and glamourous”, and is fueled by Maria’s love of contemporary luxury, clean lines and continuity, as well as her usage of architectural approach in design and flattering shapes.

To add on, Daniel also quibbed that her clothes are made to fit people of all sizes, so even if you are a size S or L, or whichever size you may be, you would be able to find your perfect fit in Maria Grachvogel’s clothes.

And of course, the only way to see how true that is, is by watching the show itself and seeing for myself how the clothes actually hang and fit on the models.

Opening the show were some solid coloured and colour-blocked numbers that are loosely fitted yet flattering, and whose key features are in the drapes itself.

From serene white dresses that feature translucent paneling to loose cape dresses and to what we felt was the collection standout: a beautiful series of digitally-printed looks that depicts Maria’s very own handpainted mastery, her collection is anything but ordinary.

While I’m not exactly a person who adores drapes that much, her collection has certainly made me think differently and to embrace the beauty of every voluminous free-flow folds, even on printed fabrics!

It is no wonder why Maria Grachvogel is a favourite amongst celebrities Kelly Rowland, Yasmin Le Bon and Kelly Holmes, who counts Maria as one of their favourite designers and was often spotted wearing her designs.

To sum it all, she is literally a godsend every women, with clothes that fit and accentuate well.
