Remember playing the musical chairs when you were a child in some birthday party or other?

This festive season, Swedish fashion brand COS invited six furniture designers to play a game of musical chairs, namely Mette Hay, who is the co-founder of Danish design house HAY, Seungji Mun, the founder of Seoul and Copenhagen-based studio Mun, as well as German product designer Tino Seubert. Others include Canadian designer Philippe Malouin, furniture designer Lucy Kurrein, along with Marjan van Aubel, who is a designer and founder of solar power design studio Caventou.

Working with Lernert & Sander, two highly talented Dutch artists based in Amsterdam, the brand dressed the designers in a selection of timeless pieces from the COS AW16 party collection, and have them circle their chairs as they are removed one by one, slowly narrowing down the group of contenders.

When the music stops, the designers must find a seat even when only one chair remains…
