A fashion preview of all the designer labels for this year's Men's Fashion Week 2012, during the press conference this afternoon.

Throughout history, fashion has always been focusing its spotlight predominantly on womenswear, but we see a rising trend and spotlight on menswear, especially with the upcoming Men’s Fashion Week Singapore, so fashionistos out there, you’re in for a treat!

After an accumulative success from it’s first outing last year, the Men’s Fashion Week Singapore (MFW) will be returning to Marina Bay Sands once again, from 18 – 22 April 2012, to present a fashion extravaganza of 19 shows.

Being the 1st country in Asia to present a Men’s Fashion Week, as well the 3rd country in the world to do so, behind Paris and Milan, the inaugural MFW 2011 has garnered a total of 30,000 visitors in attendance last year. It was also broadcasted through 31 satelites to over 160 million people in 193 countries, which in totality, was an astounding feat.

“Given the success of last year’s spectacular offering, the immediate challenge is to move things forward and raise the bar this year. If the heart of fashion shows is the labels and clothes, music will certainly be the soul. Fashion, like music, is something for all to appreciate. As such, MFW Singapore 2012 will experience a fusion of sartorial elegance and eclectic beats. You can call this, the Music and Men’s Fashion Week, or M2FW, edition.”

– Frank Cintamani, Chairman of MFW Singapore, Women’s Fashion Week (WFW) Singapore and Haute Couture Week Asia

This year’s edition, no doubt, will be a high octane fashion event to watch out for.

Come April 2012, Marina Bay Sands will be transformed into a fashion epi-centre where a designer lineup for MFW 2012 will be comprising of a varied range of designers from France, UK, USA, Savile Row, Japan, Korea and our homegrown glory from Singapore, will be coming together to present their latest collections to fashion enthusiasts alongside music performances by 10 J- and K-pop stars (who will be revealed next week). World Runway II, a fashion styling competition which made its debut here last September, will also be showcasing the talent of stylists on the MFW 2012 platform.

.

Opening the MFW 2012 at the Opening Gala on the 1st day of Men’s Fashion Week 2012 will not be one, but two shows, namely Spencer Hart, a Savile Row brand, whose clients consist of many celebrities such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, David Bowie and Matthew Williamson, as well as internationally-acclaimed menswear brand Songzio from Korea, a returning label from last year’s edition of MFW 2011. Songzio will be showcasing its full collection this time round.

The exciting style-setting designer lineup, which will be making their runway debut at the MFW Singapore 2012 are : (From Korea) Beyond Closet, D.Gnak, General Idea, Resurrection and Vandal as well as from Japan, Diet Butcher Slim Skin, Factotum, Jun Hashimoto and Pascal Donquino. Other international labels which will be making waves on the stage are the avant garde Bodybound (from UK), Alexis Mabille (from France), Casely Hayford (from UK), Matthew Miller (from UK) as well as New York designer Richard Chai. And representing Singapore on the runway will be Reckless Erika who will be presenting their Fall/Winter 2012 collection.

.

Last but not least, the Men’s Fashion Week will be closed by the iconic MCM (Mode Creation Munich), who will be presenting its Autumn/Winter 2012 collection of artisanal leather goods, footwear and apparel at the Closing Gala. This will be the first time that the brand will be showcasing its full collection in Singapore.

We are definitely looking forward to this spectacular fashion event, where the spotlight truly shines on men’s fashion.
