Remember the time you expected your favourite comedian to show up to an event in something frothy, glam up with embellishments and pops of diamante, and matching that with some sky-high heels to take them to the stars (with their humour)? Yeah, that never quite happened, did it?
So consider us shocked to see French actress Florence Foresti in an oversized faux fur shearling coat in powder pink, alongside a black pant suit that was cinched by a studded, black leather weaved gold chain, at the 41st César Awards Ceremony 2016.
Held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris and presented by the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma to honour the best French films of the year, this grand and prestigious event is basically the French’s equivalent of the Academy Awards or Oscars in the United States.
Hosting the awards show for the first time, the 42-year-old humourist and stand-up comedian, known for her punchy jokes on feminism in her popular one-woman shows such as MotherFucker and Foresti Party, quipped that her main aim is to “make the evening at César the most entertaining possible.”
The pressure was certainly high, considering that the hosts of the previous ceremonies were all famous names.
They include French television presenter Antoine de Caunes, actress and screenwriter Valérie Lemercier, as well as duo Gad Elmaleh (stand-up comedian) and Edouard Baer (actor and director) who did remarkable jobs last year.
It is no wonder why Foresti decided to deck herself in couture then – one that reflects the musical hall and glamorous outfits in French cinema. She accomplished that by approaching the talented duo behind French Couture House On Aura Tout Vu, Yassen Samouilov and Livia Stoianova, who designed a fitting ensemble for her.
For those who don’t know, both Samouilov and Stoianova are regulars at the Paris Haute Couture Week, having presented their collections every season. Their creations alongside their avant garde visions were quite literally born to rule the red carpets.
They have recently dressed Beyonce for her ‘Formation’ music video, Madonna for her Rebel Heart tour and even the sensational Lady Gaga in the David Bowie x Intel commercial for the Grammy Awards 2016.

And last but not least, watch Foresti as she dances to the catchy tunes of Diana Ross’s ‘I’m Coming Out’.
