Alas, it’s the beginning of a brand new month, and it gives us great pleasure to present to you our Artist of the Month for September, the Singapore-born digital fashion illustrator Heage, whose distinct style of illustration in creating ‘flights of fantasy’ has charmed many, including us!
And that’s why, we are more than excited to showcase the HEAGE x COUTURE TROOPERS: “Super Haute Flying Models”, a special collaborative work that was so thoughtfully done up by Heage himself in a divine sense of couture; an ode to our website!
The illustration depicts a modernistic circus scene; a world where imagination takes flow, and where everything and anything magical happens. As the spotlights shine, a realm of extreme glam-ness takes over.
With fantasies at the centre-stage, a flair of beauty in confidence and control is mirrored in his supreme rendering of dangerously flying models (plus flying shoes!), and a fierce haute couture corsetted cage dress that even Anna Wintour and Paris would be so proud of!
And like all his other fantastical illustrations, his style here is of an extreme artistic flair as he puts himself in a role of a storyteller, weaving and concocting imaginary digital scenes that are not restrained by everyday life, but instead, depict a magical sense of dreams and beauteous realities.
What’s also important to know is the fact that his illustrated figures, which are all beautifully made up, are sculpted in an iconic style that reminiscences that of French artist Pierre et Gilles’s hand-painted photographs, which are similarly renowned for his highly-stylized fantasy styles.
With numerous accolades, awards and features in some of the most notable publications, including international illustration books: ‘Madonna in Art’, ‘Imagemakers: Cutting-Edge Fashion Illustrations’, ‘The Big Book of Fashion Illustrations’, and even the packaging design of the Escada ‘Marine Groove Perfume, Heage the incredibly-talented artist is clearly a force to be reckoned with.
