It was by sheer luck that we were being introduced to London based designer and entrepreneur Vanessa Gouden.
And it was also by sheer delight that we have found ourselves drawn to her artistic-yet-elegant styles in all her designs of her label VANESSA G, especially her newly-released Mining Landscapes collection for the season.
Vanessa G has created unique clothing pieces for the affluent, upwardly mobile women of today. The formidable mining entrepreneur takes her inspiration from both art and fashion, combining both disciplines to create truly unique pieces.
The collection features the lines ‘From Discovery to Creation’, ‘Rare Earth’ and ‘Chain Reaction’ and includes printed trench coats and tailored dresses which we adore very much.

From Discovery to Creation
The inspiration for this collection emulates the beauty of minerals from their raw form to the final product. The collections sees these bold prints on silk satin and organza fabrics. The collection includes a classic A-line dress with a cinched waist for a tailored finish.
Paired with minimal accessories, this dress is a real wardrobe statement. The collection also holds Vanessa G’s signature piece, the printed trench coat. This timeless piece with a bold palette and an avant-garde half-printed design is a wonderful item, perfect for daytime dressing.

Rare Earthterns
Flora and fauna play a prominent role in this line. The range sees some neutral palette pieces including a blazer, fitted pencil skirt and skinny fit trousers. The delicate neutral hues of these pieces along with the metallic finish make for ideal items to mix and match with the collection’s bold shirts in burnished orange.
The bold prints follow through to the A-line cocktail dress and tailored trench dress. Pieces with a kaleidoscope of colours are cut for a tailored impression. There is also a lightweight silk printed jumpsuit which comes in monochrome hues and is a wonderful chic alternative to the maxi dress. The cut of this item, like all the the collection’s pieces aim to flatter the waist and this item in particular can be dressed with neutral heels and a waist-cinching belt.

Chain Reaction
Vanessa G’s heritage in the mining sector is very much reflected in this line. The tailored dress is an elegant classic with a strong 1960’s silhouette realised in an oversize chain print design. Both the tailored shift dress and the classic shirt have a bold blue and white print which is an utterly classic pallette.
There really is a modern take to these pieces again with flattering fits and timeless cuts. The modern take is reflected in the tailored trench and short trench – fun, lively and and youthful pieces. The yellow and gold palette with citrus hues is fantastic for the summer season.
