Karlie Kloss x Warby Parker

.

It is a known fact that every woman needs a good pair of sunglass in her handbag, especially in the midst of the Summer season. That is why, we are incredibly stoked to share the news on the latest collaborative line by model Karlie Kloss and eyewear brand Warby Parker.

Conceived after an encounter between the 21-year-old American fashion model and the founders of Warby Parker, Neil Blumenthal and Dave Gilboa, at a charity basketball event, the line consists of affordable sunglasses designed by Karlie Kloss herself, emulating some of her own effortless-yet-sartorial style that she is known for, albeit with a distinct flair from the 1970s sleek aesthetics in the mix.

“We’ve been looking forward to working with Karlie, and not just because we’ve been friends for awhile. Her enthusiasm, great taste, and giving spirit make her a natural collaborator for Warby Parker”

– Neil Blumenthal, co-CEO and co-founder of Warby Parker

Aptly refined and contemporary; nothing frivolous, the three sunglass designs are indeed made by and made for the most discerning fashionista, who appreciates quality in terms of both visual as well as material-wise.

Adapted from the feminine JULIA tear drop frames (below), each piece of these glasses is handcrafted with either silver or gold thin sculpted metal rimmed frames, that are made from the finest materials of custom cellulose acetate and ion-plated titanium.

Not only that, these sunglasses also feature a distinct patterned temple tip at the end of the handles – ranging from the likes of the classic tortoiseshell pattern as well as marble-like pattern, which is currently one of the top print trends in 2014.

For those who prefer their sunglass lenses in different shades of colour, you would be thrilled to know that this line features them in gradient-tinted shades of copper, sepia, effervescent indigo and faded grey, as well as the incredibly unique violet-clover green mix (which is our personal favourite!).

With so many style to choose from for all your everyday outfit, it is most certain that you would definitely be spoilt for choice.

In celebration of this partnership between Karlie Kloss and Warby Parker as well, the eyewear brand would be donating a pair of glasses, with every pair sold, to someone in need under the Edible Schoolyard NYC organisation.

“Collaborating with Warby Parker on this capsule collection was an amazing experience. I’ve always admired their commitment to social enterprise and am so excited that our partnership is supporting Edible Schoolyard NYC’s inspiring work.”

– Karlie Kloss

This organisation which is dear to Karlie, provides low-income public schools with kitchens and gardens. It also teaches students the tools to develop lifelong healthy habits through a hands-on curriculum led by Edible Schoolyard staff in the Brooklyn and East Harlem community.

The Karlie Kloss x Warby Parker frames are available on June 10  via online (http://www.warbyparker.com/karlie-kloss) and in Warby Parker’s physical stores in the US (see locations here) at an affordable price of USD $145 each.

This is the second time that Karlie is doing a brand collaboration – after her successful collaboration with Frame Denim, a denim jeans brand in May 2013.
