When November comes, the glamourous Parisian Haute Couture will be reenacted into a fabulous four-day fashion-filled Haute Couture Week 2012 Singapore, from 29 November till 2 December 2012 at the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Here in Singapore for the second time running, the Haute Couture Week 2012 Singapore, organised by Fide Productions, will be housed in a brand new location; a specially constructed 1,700 square meters marquee alongside a cascading waterfall within Marina Bay Sands with an aquatic theme, away from it’s previous location at the convention halls to an expected 6,000 attendees, including prominent fashion figures, including Mr. Didier Grumbach, President of the Fédération Française de la Couture, du Prêt à Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode and Dr. Satoshi Onuma, President of Bunka Fashion College, Japan.

It promises to be bigger, stronger and filled with even more established couturiers whose works will simply leave you with utter amazement this time round.

The Women’s Fashion Week & Haute Couture Weeks campaigns are illustrated by fashion favourite calligrapher Nicholas Ouchine, who has penned invitations for designers like Chanel, Sonia Rykiel & Francois Pinault, to name a few.

For one, the mix of participating couturiers, who were mentioned at the press conference on Friday, are undoubtedly ones who transcend a stunning display of boundless creativity and imagination, and we are indeed looking forward to them.

On the group of participating couturiers, here is what Founder and Chairman of Fide Fashion Weeks, Frank Cintamani has to say:

“Their designs will challenge the status quo and norms of what are traditionally acknowledged as ‘acceptable’. They aim to challenge themselves and add a new dimension to the scene with their statement-making collections. They break perceptions and convention by using radical, unusual or even old and antique materials within their collections and thus presenting the evolution and future of Haute Couture. This will be a distinct and unique edition that Singapore will be presenting. “

.

And with that, the participating couturiers are Bouchra Jarrar, Julien Fournié, Maurizio Galante, On Aura Tout Vu, as well as returing Parisian couturiers Christophe Josse, Gustavos Lins and Alexis Mabille. Adding to the exciting mix, YiQing Yin from China, whose recent showing for Fall/Winter 2012 Couture Week Paris has captured the hearts of many, will also be presenting her frocks.

On their creations, Haute Couture Week 2012 Singapore’s Creative Director, Daniel Boey also added:

“I am really thrilled to be working with these new-generation Haute Couturiers, as they not only represent the crème de la crème of the fashion industry, they are also carrying on the tradition of dressmaking, craftsmanship and attention to detail with their bold new ways of interpreting Couture for the future.”

.

And indeed, the preview and highlights of what is to come, which was showcased at the press conference were nothing short of fantastic. With the presentation of six pieces by Julien Fournié and On Aura Tout Vu, we’ve got a glimpse of what is to come for Haute Couture Week 2012:

For Julien Fournié, who has first started his Couture house in 2009 and has previously worked with French designers Jean Paul Gaultier and Claude Montana, it is highly evident that his architecturally engineered collection is a massive fit for women and is akin to subtle elegance and sophisticated uniqueness.

The dresses, in whites and muted nudes, are obstruction-free, with full perspective on the refined folds, drapes and pleats that encircled the women’s’ body.

Looking closer, the intensive details in paneling and optically moving patterns hold true to what couture is all about. He’s clearly one couturier to look forward to in Haute Couture Week 2012.

.

On the other hand, On Aura Tout Vu, whose brand name literally translates to “You think you’ve seen it all”, goes for dramatic,”cyborg, gaga-ish clothes”, as Fide Fashion Week Chairman Frank Cintamani has cited.

A glamour-filled showcase by On Aura Tout Vu at the Haute Couture Week 2012 Singapore Press Conference.

True to it’s name, the expected always comes extremely unexpected as the preview opened with two men in a skin-tight bodysuit that morphs them into realistic centaurs of the Ancient Greek mythology.

And alongside this, models in billowing gowns of fringing fur, exquisite beading that is evident for extreme craftsmanship and luxe, extreme reds that are nothing short of dramatics, graced the stage.

Strong, structure shoulders as well as diamantes and gemstones were also prominent features of the showcase.

Indeed, with the drawing on bold and loud shapes, being instrumental in the creations for Lady Gaga, as well as designing of accessories for Christian Lacoix, Christian Dior and Givenchy, On Aura Tout Vu’s love for distorting fashion and glam however bizarre, proves that On Aura Tout Vu is clearly one of the key headliners of this year’s Haute Couture Week.

So expect the unexpected and what you haven’t seen before (The only thing you can definitely expect are showstopping looks)

The designers, Livia Stoianova and Yassen Samouilov also quibbled that “Singapore is a wonderful place to show couture”.

.

Apart from all of these, a Japanese Couture Showcase on 28 November, which will be kicking off the Haute Couture Week, will be specially dedicated to three of Japan’s most respected designers, Junko Shimada, Somarta and Yumi Katsura to showcase their impeccably innovative works to a wider audience and receiver bigger exposure for their creations beyond their domestic shores of Japan.

I for one am especially piqued about Yumi Katsura who has also showcased at the recent Haute Couture Week Bangkok. Her creations are in essence the stepping stones for flights in fantasy, a journey of love and intense beauty in glamourous couture, in a totally fairytale-like way fit for bridals.

For Haute Couture Week Singapore, Yumi has also promised that “every piece presented will be fresh and new, and will be presented for the first time in Singapore”.

.

And with that, we are especially stoked for Haute Couture Week 2012 this November because as our name goes, we are undoubtedly true lovers of the craft and showmanship of couture, and can’t wait to see these couturiers here in Singapore as they will all be present to take their curtain call.

So till then, check out Fide Fashion Weeks (Haute Couture) for more exciting updates as well as show schedule. And log on to their Facebook page for the latest news.

We’ll see you in November for this glamourous couture showdown.
