Nothing quite makes our hearts flutter as much as FIDé Fashion Weeks does, as we recall down memory lane to our first-ever experience to this remarkable fashion week, at last year’s instalment of Men’s Fashion Week 2012, followed by dynamic presentations of female pret-a-porter at Women’s Fashion Week 2012, and lastly, and an immersive and iconic phenomenal in couture’s finest in Couture Week 2012; opening our eyes to a diverse spectrum of remarkably talented couturiers from Asia and Paris that could weave fantasies and stories within dazzling dresses on stage.
In attendance, then, were some of the most established names, including the revered Suzy Menkes and the legendary Kenzo Takada, of whom we have met and have managed to gather insightful advises on the fashion world. In essence, it is without a doubt that the three segments of the fashion weeks, which were stretched from beginning to end of year, were staged with the highest show quality that Singapore has ever seen.
Today, we have the unveiling of numerous fashion spectaculars at the press conference for the upcoming FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013.
Hinted greatly at a curated and diverse mix, the full-fledged 11-day fashion extravaganza, which will take place from 9 to 19 October 2013 in Singapore, would perhaps be the biggest to-date for FIDé Fashion Weeks. It is also the largest fashion show to date on the property of Marina Bay Sands, the hosting grounds for the event since it’s initiation two years ago.
Collaborating and working closely with La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture (France), the renowned Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Bunka Fashion College (Japan), FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013 consists of 5 Men’s Pret-a-Porter shows, 3 Japanese Couture Shows, 7 Asian Couture shows, 3 French Haute Couture shows, 4 Women’s Pret-a-Porter shows, as well as a special grand finale show to conclude it all; discerned and well-aimed to accomplish better recognition for Singapore and Asia as fashion leaders on the world stage. The fashion week is also encapsulated with the possibility of raising and elevating Singapore’s 8th standing as a fashion capital in the world.
With this, we are in fact incredibly stoked and excited to witness the amazing showcases of nearly 40 incredible designers and labels in totality from around the world, with returning couturiers such as China’s amazing Guo Pei, Japan’s Yumi Katsura, as well as Paris’s Alexis Mabille, On Aura Tout Vu and Stephane Rolland, to name a few, who have sensationalised the runways last year with revolutionary and impeccable creations. They will be back again to charm the audiences with exceptional gowns that are made of some of the most astounding innovation in details.
Other prolific Asian couturiers that would be joining this year’s edition of the fashion week include Indonesia’s Sebastian Gunawan, Philippines’s Michael Cinco, South Korea’s Lie Sang Bong and Japan’s Junko Koshino, of whom are picked and selected based solely on the fashion week’s criteria of being ‘creative and commercially-viable’. This fashion week would serve as a platform for these extremely talented designers, whose works were mostly known in their home country, to show their works on an international platform, reaching out to a wider board of audience.
And of course, last but not least, Singapore’s Frederick Lee (designer; 3rd from right in bottom photo, and gown; 3rd from right in top photo), whose iconic gowns have shaped and sculpted both the fashion and wedding world, with occasional theatrical depths, will also be presenting in FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013 too, giving couture in Singapore a lift to another fashion level with his attention to intricate technical details and silhouettes.
Tickets to the fashion shows are also open to the public. They can be purchased at S$20 each for a single show, and S$40 for a full day pass, entitling holders access to all shows on the stated day. Other exciting bundles are also available. Do visit www.marinabaysands.com/ticketing for more details.
Afterall, according to Chairman and Founder of FIDé Fashion Weeks, Frank Cintamani, “(FIDé) continues our journey to keep our fashion exclusive, but never to exclude.”
And with this, we can’t wait for this fashion week! See you there!
