With a brand name, ATGAB which is short for”All Things Green and Beautiful“, the act of going green is undoubtedly obvious, which is undeniably the main driving inspiration behind the Singapore accessories label by eco-designer Elaine Pang.
It is truly not often that we would chance upon a label like hers, whose inspiration is built on such a noble cause: Making a fashion statement while going green.
Showcasing her latest 2012 Spring/Summer couture collection, Société at the Blueprint 2012 trade show last month, her collection, which caters to the men and ladies, was one of the brands that really stood out to us.
Her collection, which aims to blend art and fashion together, uses scrap materials and trims from pre-loved bags, which were donated by friends and the public at her collection events (at local boutique, Soon Lee and special-collaborative venues like Origins), as well as those which Elaine has scoured from her overseas trips.
She then cuts these bags up, re-thinks the materials, and thereafter, hand-makes them into unexpected accessories for ATGAB, that are made up of at least 50% upcycled materials.
Just think of how we’d always want to do our part to recycle, but we just don’t know how to go about doing it? ATGAB is seriously an answer to it; because not only can we contribute an effort for the environment, we can also look good and stylish at the same time – simply recycling at it’s best.
We had the opportunity to explore how she has infused various forms of sculptural 3-dimensional elements (such as deliberate folded styles which are holded down by sophisticated stitching) into this collection, and we really love how she has so merticulously crafted into necklaces, headbands and even brooches set in the whimsical, graphical pop-up direction, in shapes of cutesy animals and organic silhouettes of leaves, which pay homage to the miraculous and beautiful Mother Nature.
What’s even more incredible is how versatile her collection is; how we can actually wear her pieces for both casual and formal events, and even, from day to night. Simply an ideal go-to collection to spice up your outfits.
Who knows, you just might be the talk of the day (for a good reason, of course!), because we still cannot stop raving about her collection till now!
And might we also mention, all of the designs in her collection are one-of-a-kind pieces (only 1 per design in the entire world). So if you like what you see, you know where to head to.
